Since the beginning, Karl has represented DeadReck in the Muay Thai / Kickboxing scene both nationally and internationally. This travelling pirate has shown it's never too late in life to pursue your dreams. With enough passion and ambition, anything is possible!
I y'am what I y'am:
I've always been the kid that did something crazy because no one else would. I had a streak of mischief that was difficult to tame, if it has been at all, and it always pointed me to the next dare, challenge, goal... I like that I live my life like that, as a search, not for one thing in particular, but for anything that speaks to me... I enjoy chasing the call of the sirens to see if I can sail among the rocks...
An ideal day?
Any day can be a great day, even a sucky one behind a desk (luckily those days are few and far between) but I guess an ideal day for me would be waking up on island, strolling along the beach listening to the waves pounding to my left, discovering some sheltered cove with my lady and having it all to ourselves, sipping on something ice cold and soaking up rays all day. I'm a mellow dude and I enjoy the laidback, which is probably why, even though I'm a fighter by trade, I have a ring-name like Baywatch 😜
Aspirations?
After graduating with my Masters and working as a sports journalist for a number of years, the missus and I decided we wanted a life less structured, packed our bags and island hopped for nearly a year. We have subsequently taken up residence on a farm so the goal now is to get something up and running there but I still have a few fight dreams in the back pocket so I will be heading overseas a few more times this year still, working on those dreams, culminating in a crack at an intercontinental pro belt in Germany in November... After that, well, we'll play it by ear. Of course, the academic in me has never truly subsided so another goal is to get that doctorate, maybe get back to teaching at university and finally finish off some of the literary works I have been back-burning for way too long...
Dead Reckoning Clothing?
DeadReck speaks to me in a way that not only says shake loose your shackles but also to chase those goals you set for yourself, big or small. It's like bottling pure motivation then sprinkling it across each and every thing that piques your interest, bringing it into your folds and making it a part of you...
Parting Words?
Life is short and no one really cares what you choose to do with it and even if they did it wouldn't matter. At the end of the day only you live in your day-to-day and in your long-term expressions. Own that power and make sure you devote at least part of your life to chasing a dream all of your own, like, right now, before it slips away from you. Oh, and hold on tight, sometimes following that dream means you are in for a bumpy ride!
